Quick Guide To The Symptoms Of Acid
Reflux/GERD
The symptoms of indigestion or upset stomach may
include:
-
painful or burning sensations in the upper abdomen
-
bloating
-
difficulty in swallowing
-
excess of saliva in the mouth
-
you feel that food sticks in the throat
(dysphagia)
-
chronic sore or irritated throat
-
Laryngitis
-
inflammation of the gums
-
belching
-
diffuse abdominal pain
-
heartburn
-
passing gas
-
nausea
-
vomiting (not always)
The appearance of these symptoms is often associated
with eating.
Heartburn can be confused with other conditions. If
you're experiencing heartburn regularly (2-3 times per
week) for no apparent reason, it's time to call your
doctor to make sure that you don’t have an ulcer.
Heartburn accompanied by any of the following symptoms
should be checked out by a physician without delay.
·
Difficulty or pain when swallowing
·
Vomiting with blood
·
Bloody or black stool
·
Shortness of breath
·
Dizziness or light-headedness
·
Pain radiating into your neck and shoulder
In addition, we know that heartburn is caused by
simple acid reflux and is normally worse after
meals. If your heartburn worsens before meals,
it may be a sign of an ulcer.
